Under active Thyroid and a cough

Has anyone got an Under active thyroid and also a cough with it? I have had both for years now and the cough is driving me crazy. My throat just feels rough all the time and I feel as if I need to clear my throat but I have had a number of tests and all came back negative. Our GP at first thought that the Thyroid had roughened my vocal chords and once the Thyroxin started to work it would go but it hasn't. Must be 10 years now anyone had same problem and found a remedy?

Has your voice changed?

Do you feel something in your throat?

Do you have difficulty in swallowing?

Was you last test for TSH normal?

What dose of thyroxine are you taking?

No, No, No, No ,Yes and I take 75 Mc grammes My thyroxin level ihas been fine for years now. I only went last week again to docs and she gave me Codeine Linctus whih hasn't worked so she told me to go back and she will refer me back to hospital to see if there is anything else they can try.

I have had swabs taken down my throat , camera down my throat (twice) , 2 X rays , a scan, anti reflux medication, peak flow test, antihistamine, you name it , I have tried it.

Thanks for your reply, but sorry to say that I cannot think of anything else other than referral to hospital as suggested by your GP.

handy....no problem.....but have been thinking........75mcgms is a very small dose of thyroxine...........have you got the actual figures for your last TSH?

No I haven,t but the doctor has always said my thyroxin level was right after my blood test every year.
