Confused re radiotherapy

Would you be given radiotherapy after having a lump removed even if it wasn't cancerous, bearing in mind there is a history of breast cancer in the family?

A friend's husband has asked me and I don't know.

Yes,it's possible.The NHS lie to take a " belt and braces" approach with some conditions.
Bearing in mind that although the removed lump wasn't cancerous,the hospital want to back that up by making sure that there were not any cancerous cells associatedwith it.Especially given the family history of cancer.
Our Daughter in Law had something similar.
She had a benign tumour removed,which was follwed up by radiotherapy just to be sure.

Thank you for your replies. Think in the back of his mind he thinks it is cancer even though his wife doesn't and he has been told 3 or 4 times it isn't.

Best to make sure,especially as she's young and has 2 young children.
