Help please - screw stuck fast!
6 Answers
I have just changed all the key cylinders in my upvc doors to 'burglar proof'. I had no problem until I came to do the patio door - I removed the old cylinder, put in the new one and screwed in the new screw to secure it. The new screw wouldn't go in far enough for the levers to operate. I have tried to remove it but it has become stuck fast - it is protruding a few mm now.
The screw head is now useless because I have tried too many times to remove it!! I have tried one of those things that is supposed to remove screws when the head has gone - useless!!
What can I do? Any ideas welcome. Would a locksmith be able to help?
Fortunately it is a door that leads from the house to the conservatory and I was just doing a belt and braces job fitting the locks to all the doors.

Get a drill bit a bit smaller than the screw and it should either come loose or you should be able to get something in the hole to be able to remove it. Only do it though if you are happy using a drill. You have to be careful that the drill doesn't slip. A locksmith would be able to do it fairly easily but would cost a bit. Good luck.
