Recent Arrest Section 39 Assault
I was arrested for 2 counts of assault in my local town centre. The short story is that I have been bullied (verbally) by one of the women for the past 6 years and never reported it to the police although when questioned, she didn't deny it. One of these women assaulted my mother in town a few days prior to this incident involving me and on the day I wanted to know why?! I approached the two women, to speak with the one involved and it was then, that the older of the two started being verbaly abusive again. The younger woman tripped and as she fell to the floor I held her with my hand on her chest to gain 'control' and to avoid being hit. I asked her repeatedly why she (a woman I had never seen before) hit my mother and why she involved herself in this 'ongoing' verbal battle. During this whole time, the oldest woman was beating my back with both her fists. I was arrested for 2 counts of assault and taken to the police station for over 8 hours. I failed to mention the older woman hitting me as I was scared to bits and just answered anything I was asked. The girl (who tripped) has accused me of strangling her (not holding her down by the colar bone / shoulder area). I was bailed until about 3 weeks time so the police can check CCTV which (having checked) I think will not prove either side of the story. I have a strong idea that both these women will have plenty of previous convictions be it shop lifting or benefit fraud which although may not be physical, surely still shows they're not desirable? I have never been in trouble with the police before or anywhere else for that matter. I have no idea what will happen on the day that I go to the police station.
I suppose my questions for you are: Is it too late to tell the police about the older woman beating my back? If it's still ok to tell the police, why do I say I left it so long? If the camera doesn't show me as holding her chest not her neck who do they believe? - If they believe her, what happens to me?
