In the corner of my mouth there is a sore area about the size of little fingernail and it is driving me mad.

About a month ago I noticed a small red area in the corner of my mouth (right hand side - right in the gap between your lips), it has gradually got bigger and more sore. It scabs over but when I open my mouth the scab splits and it bleeds. When it gets wet the scab comes off.

I have tried leaving it alone and putting germolene on it but neither have worked.

Does anyone have any ideas please? Not only is it sore but it looks horrid!!

It sounds like angular cheilitis and has several causes. See your GP who may prescribe either a steroid cream or anti-fungal cream.
I agree with hc4361.....angular cheilosis......Google it as it is associated with many conditions.

Thanks guys. Have googled and it does look like that. will make an appt at Docs.
From what you describe, angular cheilitis is the most likely diganosis.

You can purchase a tube of Miconazole Oral Gel from a chemist (without prescription) which should be applied to the lesion for times daily, until resolved, and then for 2 days further.
