My Dad underwent an AAA repair last month. (Abdominal Aortic Aneurism).
It is a bulge in the aorta, which is the main artery away from the heart feeding all the other main arteries for internal organ and legs.........
His presented as a pulsating lump under his rib-cage...................and was only mentioned in passing to his GP.
It is VERY important to get quick diagnosis (and quite simple to do).
I know of someone who presented with symptoms, pulsating swelling under ribs, etc. and the doctor prescribed Gasviscon!! Some else in the medical profession treating her for something unrelated advised her to go to A&E immediately because it was so obvious what was wrong. Her doctor didn't even examine her!!
Unfortunately, Peri, when it bursts..............it bursts.
Unless you have the good fortune to be on the operating table at the time it really is 'all over bar the shouting'.
Once they have diagnosed the size of it, they can either monitor or operate.
That's why my Dad had to have the op, his was a big 'un.
He he Squad. It was an osteopath that diagnosed it!! The lady had been complaining of these weird pulsations under her ribs and discomfort for some time. Gaviscon - I ask you!!!!
If you live in the country and your Aneurism bursts..........you have had it.
If you live in the town.....instruct the ambulance men to byepass you local Casualty Dept and take you to the nearest Cardio Thoracic Unit....however fat away it is.
Hey, I live in the sticks and our Ambulance teams are fully aware of taking people to the nearest Cardio Thoracic unit. A friend who lives in a town had to travel far further when he had problems.
Lofty...well you know me, your good advice went a begging.......I put the tablets in each dish, they walked up to their food, put two paws up to me and cleared off.
Honest Lofty i will try your technique.......I know it makes sense.
I was NEVER a head porter.......you know me......I was just showing off.............ordinary porter.......but a classy one.
Sqad I got very little sleep last night - and you do sound a bit terse to me at the moment - however I am not proud and I do apologise if i am mistaken
Peri. I now feel sorry for being flippant on your thread. I do hope it wasn't someone close to you who died so suddenly last night. It's always such a shock when things like this happen.
