My husband has been recently diagnosed as a diabetic, he loves fruit in the morning with breakfast but when he eats some fruits like pears or grapes his blood sugar levels goes very high, does anyone know af fruits that are high fibre but low in sugar thanks x
google 'diabetes uk' and you'll find loads of information about all things diabetic there, including lots of info on diet. i would agree that you need to see the dietician when your husband visits the diabetes clinic.
I've been a diabetic for years, I eat grapes with breakfast but remember 8 grapes equal one portion ie: One shredded wheat + 8 grapes make a breakfast. Two shredded Wheat if you're a manual worker.
Jem.
Almost all the fruits are rich in carbohydrates. Better to avoid them. It is good to start the day with bitter guard juice for diabetics. It is preferred to have it at least twice a week.
