The body can still surprise you at 87!

Due to various symptoms, and checking these on the Internet,it seems I now have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, this has been confirmed by my (somewhat useless) GP.
He said he doesn't know what I can do to relieve it.I get the feeling that as I am 87 he is not bothered.
He thrust several leaflets at me,and these combined with the information from the net lead me to Peppermint Tea,which has relieved the symptoms quite a bit.
What I really need is an ABe'r with personal experience of IBS to give me some hints.
Anyone out there fit the bill?
Alec.
