had a urine flowtest and was sent to the hospital for an ultrascan, which he had last saturday. Results today at the doctors .. his prostrate is enlarged, which the doctor said he was young , 61, to take tablets all his life so is going to see specialist at the hospital and he will most likely opt for an operation, Any idea how they do that,.? also would he need to stay off work for any time do you think.?
Many thanks.

Try not to panic .My husband had prostate trouble getting on for seven years ago now .He had to be rushed to hospital as he couldn't pee at all .Not one drop. Silly B left it and left it in spite of me nagging at him .
They did the routine things PSA etc which is a test for prostate specific antigen. This will rule in or out anything cancerous
They then operated and removed it .it was all clear ,completely benign and he's been fine ever since .Get on to your GP asap for the results . . .It should have been sorted by now if he's having trouble passing water ..I would hate to think your hubby ends up like mine did on the verge of kidney failure .
Make a fuss and I hope he soon gets it sorted out .

It was 10 years ago now but my husband was diagnosed with an enlarged prostate he had an op to correct it, I don't know if it happens with all men who have this op but he lost the ability to ejaculate. Everything else is back to normal except that. Being as our family was complete it wasn't a prob. My hubby was young too 59. I think this is the side affect of this op. Our doc warned us.Is this the case with anyone else?
