Just keep it washed and clean, and dry it well

Ok, will tell him that. Its bit more sensitive as just below is scar (from keyhole surgery) that he doesnt like to touch.
How long since the surgery ?

If it's recent, it may not have healed properly.
Go back to GP if problems persist, otherwise carefully wash and pat dry.

A year ago, i know thats not recent but it has never happened before. I think its maybe cos he never give naval a good wash when hes in bath like he always used to before surgery. So, found a website called Dial, the shower gel stuff, so not sure if that is suitable?
Baby soap is probably best, I don't know Dial but the suggestions that he should visit the doc are probably sensible. It's a funny little area the belly button, and you can get all sorts of goop caught in it if it's not kept clean!
Its common sense your doctor will tell you that without any gels, wash, wipe, and dry!!
Don't think it can be the result of the surgery then, but GP should know better when they have a look.

I'd be very careful about washing products....stick to plain water for washing or baby stuff until the infection goes.

Aww, baby soap, hes my baby boy, will get him one then. He normally use lynx and dove, maybe they make it worsen? If it persist, then go back to GP again.
He is a adult as said wash the wound and dry it well!
Definitely go back if it hasn't cleared up by the time he's finished the medication...which should be anti-fungal if it's a fungal infection. Antibiotics are for bacterial infections.
Question Author
Its hard to say its fungal or not, but i just think it is. He has visited GP several times past 2 half yrs, poor him.
if its fungal then you can buy antifungal cream at any pharmasist

Does fungal bit looks like thrush?
My mum had something similar in a masectomy scar and I get something in my naval sometimes. A dab of clomitrizole does it for me - it`s an anti fungal
i had keyhole surgery and one of the holes was in my belly button. after the op I was told to boil salty water and kinda scoosh it out with that using cotton wool. You must not let the same bit of cotton wool touch your skin more than one time. Doc even suggested i gave it a gentle dry with the hairdryer!
Question Author
Thanks to u both for the advice. Looks like have to go back to GP the first thing in the morning as it looks bit worsen, theres been bit bleeding last night, at mo dry blood and leave it like that. Will warm salty water help? Don't want to make it worse. It was fine and no problem before keyhole till now. And also below navel looks bit swelling.
Good luck ..

... (and it's navel .. not naval ... lol ... that's to two of you!)
Whoops - should have got the dictionary out! Why does typing on a computer mess up your spelling - maybe I should start a thread
Question Author
Oops..! I meant navel. Just took my dictionary out, lol. I suppose i was typing fast without looking properly before post it on.
