Which is the best place to buy

new specs ...as some people like Specsavers , Vision Express, Boots , Asda .
I have too buy new ones as my vision is not great and they are expensive ...
all comments welcome .

I complimented a lady on her glasses and she said they came from a tesco optician.

depends on what kind of lenses you need, but apparantly, Asda include thinned down lenses as standard which is a big saving if you have a high perscription.

I have always gone to Specsavers and am really happy with them. Last year I went to a private optician and paid more for one pair of glasses than I did for two pairs at Specsavers!

Asda - £50 a pair (or £70 for designer frames) - any prescription

My girl has quite a strong prescription and Specsavers quoted her £250 for a pair, she went to Asda and was really pleased with both the glasses and the service she received

She's thinking of getting her contact lenses from there next

I got mine from here - 2 pairs for £60 and everyone has complimented me on them. You can pick 4 frames for a home trial too which means you can ask others' opinions and see how they feel after wearing them for a while.

My script is high and I wear varifocals , as it's easier than 2
pairs of specs . I would like laser treatment but's it's scary stuff
and expensive , at least with specs you keep your sight as some
thing could go wrong .

I'm with Karen Mac on this. I have bought very, very expensive designer glasses etc in the past, but my £34 pair from glasses direct are the first ones that people say - Those look nice.

My son has worn glasses since he was 6 years old...he's 26 now. Last year he paid £4,500 to have his eyes lasered. Instantly he ditched his specs ... his sight is as good as it could be, and if I need some really small writing read ,... he's your man.
He was very hesitant and thought long and hard about it, but eventually made the descision and went for it...he wishes he'd done it long ago.

Alava, not everyone is so lucky with laser surgery. I know someone who had one eye really spoilt due to this, so personally would not reccommend it.

I'm a specsavers fan, as I have high prescription varifocals too, always have one pair with reactions lenses and one with anti-glare for computer work, two pairs for about the price quoted at the other big names (D and A, Vision express, or Boots opticians) I also subscribe to one of the healthcare plans like HSA and can claim 70% of the cost back really worth doing as it means I can have designer frames and any extra coatings etc
