Re: Lumps in ankle scar
5 Answers
Hello guys,
I posted a question last week asking about several lumps in my ankle scar (from recent surgery) and after a few opinions I think we agreed it is more than likely retained stitches. They cause quite a bit of pain where they are and are slowing recovery as I cannot stretch my ankle far without them hurting a lot.
Question is: Where would I get said 'stitches' removed? Do I go to the docs? Or shall I mention it to my surgeon who I will be seeing soon?
I have had a mole removed before and that was done at the docs surgery, but seeing as these are beneath the scar I wonder if there is a different approach.
Thanks guys

The girl who removed them was a student nurse and whilst I do not have a problem with her learning hands on, I do have a problem with having to have my scar re-opened because no one checked that all stitches were removed afterwards. One I can forgive but it looks like I have 4 or 5 and they go right up the scar so I would imagine it will be messy removing them.
I shall mention it to the surgeon - he seems only to happy to cut me open at every opportunity =)
