Too large a topic BUT if she is female, internal bleeding, then it may well be an Ovarian Cyst.
Question Author
yes she is female, and they are talking about operating. is it a major operation?
Routine procedure, but depending upon what they find when they "get in" will depend upon whether or not it will turn into a major procedure.
Question Author
thank you sqad for you answer
Pleasure.
If it is a bleeding ovarian cyst it can be pretty major especially if it is a large cyst and has been bleeding for a while or very heavily but should be staightforward to sort out although your friend is not going to enjoy the rest of her holiday. Not heard of stomach cysts, perhaps sqad will come in and tell us more... hope your friend is ok
rowan...."stomach" being a layman's term indicates anything in the abdomen, not just in the stomach (organ)
So we have pancreatic cysts, ovarian cysts, renal cysts, peritoneal cysts and I am sure that I have missed a lot out.
Question Author
at the moment i dont know a lot of information. she called me from abroad in hospital very upset, she said she has a stomach cyst and they might operate she is 19 and and no other previous medical problems she is with her mum.
I take your point, especially re pancreatic cysts I remember seeing a few of those patients when I did hep/bil nursing...
Question Author
she has called me again and they have found out that it is an ovarian cyst,, she has decided to wait until she is back in the uk for treatment because she does not trust the hospital staff abroad. when she returns to the uk what treatment will she need?
thank you
pandora..........I now assume that she didn't have an operation abroad.
Back in the UK she will be re-assessed.....examination. ultrasound and possibly MRI.
This to give some indication of size, position and likely innocence or not of the cyst and then the further management will depend upon the results.
Question Author
thank you sqad you information is very helpful
It's a pleasure.
I had ovarian cysts (confirmed with ultra sound scan) back in my late teens. I was booked in for surgery to have them removed but by the time the appointment came through for surgery they had completely disappeared on their own :)

Surgery is not always necessary for ovarian cysts!
