Hi

For about 4 years now I have been on medication for high blood pressure and cholesterol. This is Lisinopril, Bendroflumethiazide and Simvastatin. Approx 2 months ago the Simvastatin was increased from 10mg to 20mg per day.
I have been experiencing some leg pain and cramp in calf muscles usually at night. Is the increase in Simvastatin likely to be the cause of this?
I am also on Mebeverine for IBS and also take a vitamin supplement of Vit C and zinc daily.

I had the same with simvastatin, problem went when my cholesterol medication was changed to atorvastin
I started taking Simvastatin and after a couple of weeks had the most terrible back pain, after a rest from taking them the pain went, and came back as soon as they were started again. My doctor then tried me on Pravastatin, and again, the same thing happened. I then tried Exetrol for the cholesterol and this has done the trick, with no back pain being felt. I am also taking Bendroflumethiazide.
Apparently Simvastatin is known for causing muscle cramps.
Both my parents have been on this drug and suffered really bad with leg pain and muscle pain, they both came off and are now trying to control there cholestrol themselves but the muscle pain has not ceased at all, think they now have this pain for the lest of there days. x
