My friend has just had a nasty accident when she came off her mountain bike hitting a pothole in the road and travelled 15 mts., She suffered broken eye socket, cheek bone and nose together with two broken cervical vertebrae and one lumbar. This happened July 13th, she has recovered well, but is worried because she says she still feels as though she has been drinking - her head is full of cotton wool. I try to reassure her telling her she had a very nasty bump - but is this normal - she doesn't seems to be getting any advice from the Neuro surgeon at the hospital. Can you help?

I suffered trauma to my cheekbones/sinus area many years ago and I always felt like my head was full of cotton wool - almost like I had been drugged. I think your friend should go back to the Gp/Consultant for a proper diagnosis though because where the head is involved one shouldn`t take any chances
The docs at the hospital have told here she is ok - she is going to her GP on Thursday as one of her wounds is still weeping and she will mention this then. I remember when my husband had a nasty accident at work with a head injury and felt like his head was full of cotton wool, hay and rags for a few weeks - I think she has to give it time she has had a nasty shock, but we will see what the Doc says. Thanks.
Sorry forgot to mention that, yes she was, she suffered concussion and can't remember the accident or several days after - I think she's been remarkable because she's back at work this week, it's just this muddle headedness she's finding hard to cope with and she won';t drive because of it, although the doc has told her she can. Thanks Sqad.
