I have been prescribed amoxicillin for a chest infection but have found they are red & yellow capsules which contain E110 which I'm allergic to. Would it be OK for me to open the capsules and just take the powder inside or are the capsules important, for example, for slow release or something?
TIA

At the end it says there are chewable tablets, liquid and slow release. I think you must have the slow release so no.

Thank you, Treetops. I suppose I need to go back to the docs for another prescription :-(
Why not ask the Chemist their advise, after all they are competant people?
No problem, just open up the capsules and take the powder.

A friend suggested they might hurt my stomach if I just take the powder, any thoughts? Think I'll ask the pharmacist. Thanks for your help :-)
You really need to talk to your own Doctor for accurate advice.
