Malaria and Mosquito Bites....

How strong is the possibility that someone who contracted malaria in 1954 (after serving in the Korean War), and had mild relapses intermittently since then, and who then had a mosquito bite earlier this year from which he had a very strong nasty reaction - then went on to develop neutropenia - the severity of which caused him to be in an isolation ward, undergo numerous blood tests etc. This caused chest pain, sob and a wcc so ,low it was almost unbelievable?

Or could it be too many Gins over the last 5 decades?

salla...as you know, I am not a tropical disease expert, but, in my opinion, the neutropenia COULD be due to past malaria infection, but there are far more urgent conditions that need excluding.

Blood diseases such as leukaemia, myeloma etc? Mmm, I think all those have been done and results are awaited.
