help please with a knitting problem
1 Answers
I have 1000gms of double knitting wool, but because of Arthritis I cannot work with size 8 and 10 needles. If I was to use the wool double, would I be able to use a "chunky" pattern? if not what else would work?

Try a tension square with your chosen needles and double strand of yarn. Once you find out how many stitches to 4" / 10cm width of knitting and how many rows to 4 /10cm, you can compare it with your proposed pattern. Usually the tension square is stocking stitch, but sometimes it's the pattern of rows which make up the garment.
Then either adjust the number of stitches / rows, or look for a pattern that fits in better with your tension square.
I'm doing this all the time, as I use handspun yarn which doesn't fit exactly in 4ply, dk or aran.
Good luck, hope the arthritis lets up.
