Exercising whilst having a cold....

I had planned on an active week - Wii Fit every night, a long swim tomorrow and a gym session with my trainer on Friday.

the last time I exercised heavily (aerobics) when I was coming down with a bad cold, I damn near had a heart attack (mind you, I did have a heart condition then.....).

Should I not partake of any exercise until I'm better? Should I just do gentle exercise? Should I just go for it whatever (it's a cold, not 'flu).

My love...........I have been watching your thread throughout the morning and through your post you have looked so isolated and vulnerable.

Although I can´t think of a reply, I find it quite interesting and absorbing....as I do you.

If you haven't got a temperature then you'll be OK. You should never exercise with a virus as your body uses a lot of energy to fight it.

always thought you shouldn't do strenuous exercise if you have cold/flu - heart is just a muscle - therefore more subject to strain if you have a virus - wasn't there something years ago saying certain heart damage in later life was due to the 'soldiering on' mind set of the generation.?

go for a nice gentle walk somewhere in the country fresh air is fab for a cold and you are excercising at the same time x

But it's boring when it's not sunny........
SB you are sick therefore you get to do and eat whatever you like, whenever you like until you are better - oh yes, and everyone you see has to feel sorry for you and make a fuss, bring you goodies and do the housework. Hope you feel better soon.

I can't truly be sick then - cos I'm not doing or getting any of that :-(

Oh well, I'll be a brave little soldier and march on. I may swim gently for half an hour, then loll out in the sauna to sweat out the germs and the jacuzzi - hoping that nice Frenchman is in there again..... That should make me feel better.
try a bit of yoga nice and simple gentle excercise

I have yoga on my wii fit - I suppose I could sit in my swimsuit, and do that?
And go for a nice kip afterwards.
