Good morning....sorry to be late as I have just "logged on" again and seen your post.

I have started another thread because in answering your question, if evokes another topic,that of registration of doctors.

Unless, one is struck off, then you are are a doctor for life and have a job for life, which to me is a good thing on one hand but on the other there is no evaluation of competence or performance which doesn´t bode well for the standard of health care. Many doctors who have pulled their weight in the NHS are clapped out by the age of 55years and start to freewheel to retirement. Consultants have to retire at 65 and GP´s 75 ( I think?), but I packed in the NHS when I was 50 and did full time private work until I retired.

My advice to you on the other thread remains.

I agree with you Sqad. I have recently had dealings with younger GP's that I wouldn't trust with a potted plant. Nurses and other medical professions have to declare their fitness to practice every 2 or 3 years and demonstrate it whenever required. Say "appraisal" or "fitness to practice" to medics and they mostly behave as though you had suggested they should have bits cut off without anaesthetic.
