Mumps????????????

My granddaughter is 8 and has had her MMR jabs as a baby. Yesterday she started symptoms of mumps. Swollen one side of face,hurt to eat and drink anything, says ear hurts. Hurts under ear when touched. Could it be mumps.!?

Oh sqad please forgive me.............pleaaaaaaaaaase!! I am so sorry, truly I am. its just this doctor alwas says he don't know what it is and calls it a virus. Just have no faith in him. BUT I do in you. hugs.xx

When I was a child and had mumps, my grandmother warmed a certain leaf of a plant and tied it on my chin and cheek. I was better in a few days. Never had it again or any jabs for it.

my grandson had a sore throat, took him to the docs who said it was viral tonsilitis, gave him anti biotics and said try not to give them unless it gets worse as its best for these things to run the course,and let the child build up its immune system, so i can see exactly what the other poster was saying

gina....I disagree..........is it a good standard of health care that leaves the decision on the taking of antibiotics to the patient?......in my opinion it is not.

How much would that cost the NHS in wasted antibiotics?

the doctor said i will give you a prescription and if it gets worse then give it to him, so no money wasted

if you have no confidence in your doctor then change to another one - if for any reason this is impossible, then ask for a 2nd opinion. However, maybe your daughter/in law is happy with the doctor and at then end of the day surely it's her decision who treats her daughter.
