Heart murmur

Mr M has been told that he has a heart murmur is this anything to worry about? He's not been told to go to his doctor - just wondered if he should?

While I was in hospital a while back they discovered I had a heart murmer but didn't recommend any treatment, Just said to have an ECG every year. They send an appt when due.

Everyone in my family has at one time or another been told that they have a 'heart murmur'. We are all absolutely fine. If it was anything sinister, I'm sure that whoever told you would have given you appropriate advice.

How old is your husband, is he on any medication and is he fit?

Who told him that he has a "heart murmur?"

Sqad - he was admited to A+E following a diabetic seasure, it was pretty scary and we nearly lost him (he's on 2 different types of insulin and took the wrong one before going to bed) He came home after 24 hours. He was told all was fine except a slight heart murmur.

...he's 67.

masma....with that medical history he does need further assessment, although it is likely that the murmur is innocent.
He does need to see his GP for referral to a Cardiologist.

Sqad - he does go to his diabetic nurse every 6 months, would she have his records from the hospital?

masma......if it is the diabetic clinic at the hospital then the nurse will have his medical records.....or should have.

If it is attached to the GP practice, then the will have the GP notes and hospital letters, but not the hospital notes.
