If you feel well, not shirt of breath, then I shouldn't worry about your heart rate whilst on beta blockers, but if you are not feeling on top form, then a pulse rate below 55 beats a minute would cause concern and the necessity to get medical assessment.
Thanks for the reply. I was prescribed them on Thursday. Yesterday I was feeling very tired and slept for an hour and a half in the afternoon (very unusual for me!). This morning I was feeling a bit light headed, sick, tired and confused. Checked my pulse, its currently at 54 beats per minute. I wasn't sure if it was side effects of the tablets or because my heart rate was too low.
CAJ.....for what reason were you prescribed the Beta blockers? There are many reason that come to mind for your slow pulse rate, the tablets just being one of them.
I was prescribed them because of stress Sqad, 80mg propanol - 1 a day. I normally have a heart rate around 80bpm (I know because I do a lot of running and monitor it!)
Thanks CAJ.........monitor the situation for a couple of days and if your pulse rate doesn't rise, then go back to your GP as the dose might need lowering.
