What is the best tooth whitening toothpaste?

Sorry if this question has been asked before, but need to know what the best home method is of whitening teeth. I have been told that the stains are caused by tea, coffee and cola, but I have to drink something. Any ideas as to what I should use to give my pearly whites a little sparkle? Whilst we are on the subject:

My dentist tells me they are all pretty rubbish, just get yourself booked for a clean with the hygenist (or similar spelling!!)

Crest whitening strips (you'll find them on Ebay) are very good.

We aren't supposed to have white teeth, teeth are ivory, all toothpastes proclaim to whiten your teeth but if you are desperate for white teeth laser is the answer which apparently is painful, and is all artificial.

Thanks for your answers, folks, would it not be cheaper to start drinking bleach instead of coke. Would that do the job for me?

That was meant to be a joke, sara3! I will take your advice to heart, and go and look on Ebay now! How much are they by the way, as professional tooth whitening is very very expensive, sometimes hundreds of pounds.

the peroxide based cleaners work for a while but can burn your gums

We find that the whittening toothpaste in Wilkinsons( yes it`s cheap) is as good as the more expensive brands.

Idi also bought four series of BBC's Pot Black - he thought it was a cooking programme.

they are just a con, you use them and 'think' your teeth are getting a little whiter, but we are just fooling ourselves, to whiten them you have to have more potent treatment, laser, bleaching etc as a prev poster says teeth are not remotely naturally white

I bought couple of tubes some time ago and I love it...It also containes a red coloring agent that enhanced gum and tooth contrast. And it is excellent for removing stains from your teeth.
