MM Links Solutions March 2011 [Week 3]

Baron Brian II mustn’t be too down-hearted. Ireland beat England in the Six Nations, although England still came out on top as far as the final positions went. Liverpool may well be struggling to get points, although they now have Andy Carrol as striker (without whom Newcastle went down 4-0 to Stoke). Following an Anfield theme: “You’ll Never Walk Alone” he offered the link words:
WIND Tunnel
Red SETTER
Liver DAMAGE
GENE Pool
In a difficult week in which to pick up points, new-comer DaisyNonna was able to find one hit!

Hits came sparsely and were well spaced. Entrant #5 was ulysses100 fresh from the GENE POOL for TWO POINTS to be followed six entries later by Christiana for another Two Points.
Another five entrants went by with pointless predictions until slaney offered WIND TUNNEL for TWO POINTS and then Entrant #21 (in the guise of Handbaglady) came in with a well-timed RED SETTER and the third link word had fallen. We were entertained by ex-champions seekeerz and wickedtongue who picked up single pointers before the Queen of the round appeared on the scene. It was ladyalex who admitted to LIVER DAMAGE and a Windy Tunnel for THREE whole POINTS. Accordingly, I nominate ladyalex as HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK.
*** Let trumpets sound and canons roar ***
*** The peasants cheer and shout “Encore” ***

The game petered out with One Point going to each of x-ray, twix123 and DaisyNonna leaving the League Table after this third week looking like:
SIX POINTS: Christiana & lysander
FOUR POINTS: centrino, middlestump & owllady
THREE POINTS: jobjockey, ladyalex & twix123
TWO POINTS: Handbaglady, Jim, mirandasmum, paulineward, rockfordill, seekeerz, slaney, tearinghair, ulysses100 & wickedtongue
ONE POINT: Aquagility, cliffyg, DaisyDinna, deecee131, evsajo, joto, kawakiri, kettledrum, Mrs Ont-ice & x-ray
I had a surprise visit from grandson Harry this afternoon and had to stop my stint at gardening. They left quite late and this report has been drafted under great pressure of time. Consequently, there may well be errors in the scoring. If you draw my attention to any error I shall correct it! Next week will mark the close the second reign of Baron Brian II. Will you be there?
For the present, this is crofter signing off.
Until we meet up again: HAPPY LINKING!
