you need to accept that in life some things are not in your control! People feel sadness all the time that you are not responsible for nor can do anything about.
its called life!!
Why are you feeling guilty?

What happens in other peoples lives is completely out of your control.
If you are sick of feeling that way then maybe your reaction to othe people's bad situation is not quite genuine and you are trying to feel empathy with them when infact you truly don't. You are possibly in a peer group that contains an awful lot of artificial and pretentious people that appear to have lashings of care and compassion when infact they are just better actors then you,
megyog, looking at your earlier posts, you are not yet 17 - I don't think yours in an usual feeling the teens are turbulent times. You can't take on responsibility for the world and what happens to your friends - guilt can make you very miserable. You have to be able to decide what you can do somethiing about a situation, and if you can't you have to try to ignore it.
Knowing that you are under 17 makes me think even more that you are in a crowd of friends that enjoy displays of artificial and pretentious emotion just as much as they enjoy squeeling out loud when they see each other after being seperated for 10 minutes.
If a few meditation / relaxation techniques fail to solve your problem, maybe a short hypnotherapy course would help. Ultimately this is an "unhelpful mindset" problem. You need to learn good ways to cope with life, not destructive ones, and make them part of your natural make-up.
I just wonder if we're over-analysing it here? Everyone (or almost everyone) has had teenaged blues, wherein you question every emotion and motive of yourself and those around you. I'm not trivialising it, because it is very real, but be reassured that it will, and does, pass.
