Lump in nostril...

I have a hard lump up my left nostril..well its not a lump as such; when i put my finger up my nose to just compare both sides the left nostril really feels like it has a massive blockage and I can feel the blocked sensation all the time. It's been there for a week now and at the beginning it kept forming a dried blood scab but wasn't painful. Now it's larger and really painful when I touch the side of my nose or sniff. Could this be dangerous?

I had a spot right on the rear edge of my nostril (kind of where it attaches to the face) a few weeks ago. It didn't look like a spot but that side of my nose was really swollen and really sore for about a week and a half before it finally came to a head. I did go through a wee spell thinking it was something really serious but it was just a good old fashioned plook :)

Sounds like a boil or infected to me especially if it is painful when you touch it. I doubt whether it is dangerous, but you may need some antibiotics. It's quite common to get them in the nostrils.

They do tend to be much more painful in this area than others.

Yours obviously had a head on it if it was bleeding and scabbing. Sometimes they never come to a head.

It sounds as though you have a deviated nasal septum (cartilage) which does commonly scab and cause nasal blockage.

No big deal but WHY ask the question in CB?

Could be a polyp. Can be really uncomfortable, I had one and it wasn't dangerous though you should get it checked out cos it could block your nostril!!

Did you have a habit of sticking things up your nose when you were likkle?

Something may be on its way back down.
