son,s headache

I admittedley am a bit of a worret. 4 weeks ago my son knocked his hand on a school desk then passed out knocking his head on the desk, the boys in the class said he appeared to have a small fit. He was taken to hospital and told to wear a hand/wrist for a small fracture he had in his hand. He has been getting headaches and describes them as "pulsing". He has just rang me from school to say he,s got the biggest headache and felt sickly going to school this morning. I cant stop worrying. He has also asked to be excused from PE which he loves. should i take him to doctors or A and E

What did the hospital say the first time he was taken there?

Never mind, just take him back to the doctors as soon as you can, who will refer him back to the hospital if he/she feels it's necessary.

they were only concerned with his hand (his dad took him)....The school have just rang for me to go and get him. ill be back soon

he has a pulsing headache and feeling sick ? take him to the nearest AE. or a gp if he can be seen quickly.

Don't bother with the GP.....take him to A&E.

panic over!! been to the doctors (walk in centre) he done some neurological tests for bleeds to the brain. My son passed these! The doctor advised me take him to his own GP only if the symptoms worsen. He gave him soluble paracetamol for the pain. phewww!!

The main concern 2-3 weeks following a severe head injury is a subdural haematoma ( clot of blood and bleeding) This has apparently been ruled out by A&E but still keep an eye on him and if he gets drowsy or irritable, then get him back to A&E

I do not know why he is still having headaches, but this is not unusual in head injuries..........Post Concussional Syndrome.

Keep a close eye.

thanks sqad ! would the doctor at the walk in clinic being able to pick up on a subdural haematoma through the examination he done (dont laugh). The thing is that my son has been saying he,s tired this afternoon but when ive just spoke to him he had 2 late nights at his dads at the weekend. Kids are such a worry!

He would certainly have that thought on his mind..............commonest things occur commonest and Concussion Syndrome is the commonest.
