My daughter has recently had real problems concentrating on her school work. She's got a bit scatty and careless (she's 10). A couple of months ago I started giving her vitamins with omega 3 to see if would help but I haven't noticed a big difference. We've talked and there doesn't seem to be anything bothering her. I was just wondering if there's anything herbal/homeopathic I could give her to help boost her concentration?

is she eating well, esp lunch time?
I would be loathe to be giving anything herbal etc... to such a young girl.

Has she expressed concern herself or is it something you have noticed?
Don't this the wrong way, but at 10, should concentrating on her school work really be a priority? She's a child - let her be one. Plenty of time for school work when she's older.

Believe me, she is a happy, bright, intelligent happy little girl with a healthy appetite (loves fruit but detests veg). Her teacher says she's become easlily distracted - something I have noticed at home now too. I just thought that rather than make a big deal of it aother vitamin or something could help her.
If she's happy and generally healthy then I wouldn't give her anything more than a good, balanced diet and some general encouragement. Whilst she may not be concentrating on school work, chances are she's developing in other areas and learning to be a confident, free-thinking individual.

Maybe schoolwork/academia is where her success will lie, and maybe it isn't. Let her decide for herself, whatever the outcome, and she will grow up happy and loving you.
I suggest getting her tested for Dyslexia. Common signs are - lack of concentration, and gets distracted easily.
Is she getting enough sleep? - also over-stimulation before bedtime doesn't help - she's growing all the time and sometimes it takes time for the brain to catch up with the body, we say Emma, one of my nieces would forget her head if it wasn't screwed on! I wouldn't go down the herbal medicine route, just a healthy balanced diet and exercise. Maybe she finds the schoolwork boring - I know I did at that age, all wanted to do was read, draw, cook and play rounders outside. Don't worry, she'll grow out of it!
yes i agree with sylvania. I'm dyslexic and i can't concentrate to save my life. I'd ask your school to test her for it as it's very easy to miss, especially if she's bright.
