Magnetic earings

So I am thinking about getting some part of my ear pierced again and i wore a magnetic earing just to see what it would be like but after a while it really began to ache. Anyone know why? Just cheap magnetic earings? I wore it in the side of my ear closest to my face at the top if that makes sense... not that it matters anyway lol
