Is it time that the press stopped whining about gagging orders?
We all love a bit of gossip, but why is it that certain newspapers (well, mainly the Daily Heil) are getting so worked up over gagging orders?
It is NOT our right to know which footballer is having an affair, or which soap star had an 'away day' in Aiya Napa last month. It seems that certain newspapers are livid, because they're being denied the right to sell more copy.
Is this in the public interest, or is it something that that public is interested in (there's a BIG difference).
Are we a nation gagging to know who is sleeping with whom and when?

People will always seek to hide their actions from scrutiny. If it becomes accepted that inconsequential people such as professional footballers can get away with it then others will seek similar protection. Before you know it we will have no knowledge of what anyone in power is doing.

I can`t see any reason why the indiscretions of footballers should be splashed over the newspapers and I can`t see why the press should have a right to know about them. If someone is in a position of moral superiority such as a politician or is a member of the clergy then fair enough. There is no moral high ground implied in the football business so I think the players`s business should be there own.
I mean high ground in the moral sense. Being a footballer doesn`t really have a moral issue attached to the job does it? There are no ethical issues involved. They are just overpaid blokes kicking a ball around. They are hardly standing up for christianity, moral issues etc so they are not really being dishonest in who they claim to be because they are not upholding any moral issues.
"They are just overpaid blokes kicking a ball around."
So, presumably ... when anyone mentions that phrase "role models" ...
... our response should be ...
Bwaaaaaah Haaaaa Haaaaa Haaaaa
Haaaaa Haaaaa Haaa Haaaaa
Oh, get a fcuking life ... !!!
Bwaaaaaaah Haaaaaaaa Haaaaaa Haaaa Haaaa Haaa Haaaaa !!!!!!

"Well my response wouldn`t be because I don`t tend to tell anyone to "get a f--cking life" Oh deary me, maybe it`s just me! "
So the response WOULD be ("not wouldn't") because you don't ... so therefore you DO ... "tend" to tell "anyone" (anyone???) to get a fcuking life.
So you would tell anyone to get a fcuking life ??
Seems like reasonable advice.

Oh dear, JJ, I have been on this site for about a year now and from what I can see you seem like a nice person. I would like to say congratulations though, because you have got me into the first conflab that I have had here. Is that a record? Will I flounce? Will you flounce? Who will be first, and who will do it in the most spectacular fashion? Maybe we should have a competition.
JJ, the word is "confab": http://www.thefreedictionary.com/confab
