Worried about my daughter
12 Answers
Hi everyone
My daughter who is 38, has had diarrohea (with bleeding) for about a month and has lost a lot of weight. She saw her GP a few days ago and has been referred for a colonoscopy. She booked the appointment for May 26th and then got a call from her GP surgery saying to cancel it as she is now being seen by a specialist this coming Tuesday as an urgent case. She has been under a lot of stress recently and I am wondering if she maybe has colitis? She is very anxious (and so am I) and is thinking the worst (after going on the internet and looking up possible causes).
My query is, can colitis or similar diseases cause the large weight loss she has suffered? Has anyone else had this problem?
Many thanks, Maz xx

I'm glad for her that it's being treated as an urgent case, any changes in bowel habits should be investigated. May I suggest that neither of you speculate what it might be? - you will know soon enough, and going on the internet can be very scary indeed, You need facts at this stage, not worst case scenarios. Good luck to your daughter for Tuesday.
Hi guys-thanks for all your replies. Sorry about the mis-spelling too! As an ex vet nurse, I should know better!! I will let you know how she gets on with her specialist appointment. And no, we won't be perusing any more internet articles. She is keeping herself busy over the weekend so's not to be sitting there fretting about things.
Thanks again-have a good weekend all xx
