Saw this on a medical website:

However, you'll need a minor, day-case key-hole surgical procedure called a laparoscopy to get a firm diagnosis of endometriosis. Laparoscopy can be carried out at any time during your menstrual cycle.

Under a general anaesthetic, a surgeon will insert a small tube with a light in it (a laparoscope) into a small cut near your navel. The surgeon fills your abdomen with carbon dioxide gas to make the organs easier to see and then checks the size, location and number of endometrial growths
I doubt it will prevent the procedure going ahead, but I might be wrong. I would go along assuming it'll all be fine.

I hope all goes well for you on Tuesday

Thank u maidup for ur response I also saw that site but as this is to actively treat (rather than purely diagnose) I wondered how effective any diathermy / excision will be?and ..... It's just "gross" ... Periods are humiliating enough :-(
Your diagnosis of endometriosis has already been made so the treatment will be to excise adhesions and this can be done at anytime during your cycle.

Thank you all. I still really don't want my period whilst on the table - :-( if I take norethisterone to delay period will this affect the Appearance of the endo at all?
As the diagnosis is already established, your operation may not even involve the endometrium, so taking norethisterone will not be a problem.

Thanks all. I went to gp led walk in centre this AM and got norethisterone and gp said (as did squad) that it'd be fine to take .
