10,000 steps a day? You gotta be kidding.

I bought a pedometer. They recommend you walk at least 10,000 steps a day. Do you realise how many that is & how difficult it is to reach that number? Especially in a sedentary job.
At the weekend, I spent saturday & sunday very active. On the Sunday I gardened, then did 80 minutes at the gym and still only managed 6750.
Has anyone else tried a pedometer and realised just how much you have to do in a day to reach that almost unattainable (unless you're a long distance runner) figure?

I bought myself a Nintendo ' Health Coach ' game that comes with a pedometer about a month ago. I don't do a lot of of official exercise but I thought I was fairly active - walking the children to and from school, gardening, doing housework all day - but now I realise I am in fact a great big lazy sloth that apparently moves very little!
