can anyone tell me what the age limit is for buying nicotine replacement chewing gum?
Just bought some from B & M and noticed that when it was scanned at the checkout it came up on the screen " must be 12 or over"
Surely it should be 18 the same as cigarettes?

12?
Question Author
yep, 12. Very strange.
wiki says 12 as well
The age limit of 18 applies to tobacco, and not its active ingredient, nicotine. The age limit of 12 is probably purely for medical reasons.
It is on the face of it but there is no age limit on when you can smoke so perhaps this has some bearing on this product?
that would make sense Mike
Question Author
Strange to think that my 12 yr old son could legally buy nicotine then.

Anyway, thanks for quick replies pink and mike.
All the kids who were allowed to smoke at 16 - before they changed the age limit - have to quit somehow!
It seems odd to me to put an age limit on it at all. I did find a broken link to a supposed story about kids smoking them.
there is no age limit of when you can smoke, only when you can buy them
There dont seem to be any more or less young smokers here
