so whilst i can understand why some ladies just go straight for the hrt when it all kicks in, my understanding has been that it just delays the inevitable and that at some point, if you're going to get them, symptoms will appear.
for myself, i'm glad i managed to get through it 'au naturel' but would never, ever criticise anyone for taking anything that helped them cope.

tried hrt, tablets and patches, it turned me into a screaming harridan with hot flushes...My bestest symptom is the dizziness. It was so bad at first that my doc thought I had a neurological illness. it was like drunken whirlies lol. Now it is greatly subsided and only happens at night. I wake up feeling like I am falling backwards. If this happens to you, never ever try to ride it out lying on your stomach. The feeling of falling backward upwards, while not to be missed as one of the marvellous and rare experiences that the female body is capable off, is also deeply, very deeply unpleasant.
its amazing...I started this 17 (OMG) years ago. I knew about the hot flushes and thought it was all discussed openly but no one mentioned the dizziness, bottom drops out of your stomach feeling, the joint aches, terrible memory (DH says no difference there lol) poor sleep, mood swings. Then you mention a symptom in a crowd of ladies of a certain age and one or more will say oh yes I get that too.....
Jem - how do you know the Queen is on HRT ?
I have never taken HRT, mostly because I now quite a few ladies who after taking it developed breast cancer (now this is just my own personal opinion). The women involved never had any family history of it and were told, quite possibly it was because of HRT. I have had breast lumps removed, so thought I would play safe and keep away from it.

I'm not having a bad time with the menopause, just the flushes. Have never mentioned the funny stomach feeling to anyone before in case they think I'm weird - it's so nice to be anonymously weird! Also find I get more flushes if I have been poorly, think thats why I'm noticing it at the moment as I had a migarine a few days ago and am not feeling quite 100%.
Will try the sage leaves Maizie, I only asked about the sage tea as I had some in Egypt.
