apparently those who floss live longer. little to do with the action of flossing i believe, more to do with the fact that those who floss generally take more care of themselves.

maybe we all should floss if we want to live longer!

I rarely do - I'm like Karen - my teeth are either too close together so that the floss (and hopefully bacteria) can't fit or far enough apart that the toothbrush does a good enough job. Dentist seems happy enough and I haven't had to have any treatment in years. Other half flosses after every meal!

The tape is much more comfortable to use than the floss, its a bit thicker. Does pen and ink though. I use every other day. And an electric toothbrush. I think when it conks out I will get a sonic one. My gums bleed less (ugh) now I use the floss. Apparently (ugh here it comes) we swallow all the gunk and bacteria if we dont clean our teeth properly, and it could cause a stroke. You should always clean your teeth first thing before eating or drinking anything. I am a storeroom of useless information.
no smurf, you are a store room of very useful information actually :o)
the older you get, the thicker your saliva becomes and the more you need to floss...that's what my dentist told me at my last visit.
i have dreadful teeth, full of fillings but i'm very proud of the fact that both my boys in their 30s don't have a filling in their head (or their teeth). if i had my time again, i'd be like that poem by whatshername...i wish i'd looked after my teeth!
