job presentation ideas...in mental health required urgently!!!

hi. i'm a mental health nurse who is going for interview next week for a teaching facilitator post (to teach medical and nursing students). i have to do a 10 minute presetation on a 'relevant topic', but so far haven'y come up with any firm ideas. how about you guys and of course the squadlet? any ideas welcome. mtia x

Dementia Test
During my last visit to my doctor , I asked him , " How do you determine whether or not an elderly person should be put in an old age home ?"
" Well ," he said , " we fill up a bathtub , then we offer a teaspoon , a teacup and a bucket to the person to empty the bathtub ."
" Oh , I understand ," I said . " A normal person would use the bucket because it is bigger than the spoon or the teacup ."
" No " he said . " A normal person would pull the plug .
Do you want a bed near the window ?"

How about presentng a teaching plan for a series of sessions... on things like recognising burn out, and stress reduction...if its a teaching post it would be relevant to show them what you could bring...and give you a chance to talk about things like different learnng styles, managing distress in the student group etc You want to be a nurse tutor not a clinician
Lcg i sat in on a FAB presentation from a lecturer on dementia- remember im gen nurse student but it was still so so relevant!!!
She showed us pics of brain and then brain affected by dementia- i cant remem the name right now and ive struggld to get the artists name but she showed us 10-12pics of an artists work from
No diahnosis to his final painting after diagnosis!! Amazinh. Really hit home and made us generals understand more such as faces on humans and animals eventually looking the same and flat features etc. Also how lighting and flooring can b adapted- really a bril subject for me. Could u do that??? I did ask in my questions if u scroll back about this artist im SURE i came up with his name

I'd go with rowan's idea, you are going to teach and you will probably be asked to mentor at some time. Placements are scrutinised these days by the universities who send students to you - standards for placements and teaching/supervision/ mentorship have to be high. How about speaking about the differences that the students will find in the mental health setting, to an adult clinical setting? depending on the unit, issues of security, patients wandering, etc.?
Will these students be pre- or post-reg, or both (could make a difference)?
Not quite the same but tinks, have you ever seen or heard Barbara Pointon speak about dementia/Alzheimer's? She came to our nursing conference last year and is speaking at our HCA conference in September - so moving, so inspirational.
