RE: Alcohol and Propanolol

Well, just to let you all know that I bit the bullet and had 2 glasses of wine when I was out for dinner this evening and have suffered no ill effects, thanks for all your answers, its good to know that I can have a glass or 2 once in a while :)

only offers general advice against consuming alcohol (rather than providing dire warnings) it's probably a safe bet that the manufacturer is simply trying to 'cover all the bases' (to use a horrid American phrase!).

My friend once mentioned to his doctor that one of the things he hated about the antihistamines he was taking for hay fever was that the leaflet told him not to consume alcohol (and, of course, to stick to the stated dose of just one tablet). His doctor (who was also my doctor, and definitely 'of the old school') simply said "Stuff that. Do what I do last thing every night. I take 3 or 4 tablets with an EXTREMELY large whisky. It works every time!" ;-)

i too take propanolol and sometimes im fine when i have a drink other times i go all shaky, sick feeling and dizzy i have to get straight into bed its awful when it happens
