does anyone else wonder if the new strain of e-coli could be another form of terrorism? putting the frighteners on us and impacting on spains already fragile economy by putting a possible 70.000 people out of work in the vegetable industry

having typed that I've just found this-
"Vegetables can also be contaminated if the fertiliser used on them includes incorrectly composted cattle manure. The bacteria from the cattle's intestines can emerge in their dung.
To reduce the possibility of the manure containing the dangerous bacteria, it should be kept at temperatures of around 55 degrees Celsius for up to two weeks. The high temperatures are unfavourable for the growth of E coli and should reduce the number of pathogens or kill them off completely. "
