I'v done something to My shoulder, not sure what but the pain is a 10 on the pain scale.
I'v had Arthritis in My neck and shoulders since I was a Teenager so I knew to rest it and up the painkillers.
Pain started last Wednesday and by Sunday it was still a 10 and I'd had very little sleep and food as I feel like passing out with the pain.
So Sunday I went to our Walk-in-centre, the Doctor said I'd trapped a muscle and the next step was a steroid injection and only My G.P could do this.
So Monday I saw a G.P who said "sorry I don't do injections, there are no Doctors in Today who do injections, and Our Nurses won't touch shoulders".
My question is Why? this G.P is not a new Doctor She's been there Years..
So I am returning Tomorrow to get it.

well i would prefer that someone who didn't know how to do it didn't even try! In answer to your question, some gp's have interests in one thing, and some in another

Sunday:went into Walk -in Centre.....saw GP.....no treatment.
Monday..went to GP....saw GP.......no treatment.
Tuesday....still in pain.......no treatment.
Wednesday....???????/ treatment.

Yes sqad, thats the story, Sunday Walk-in-centre did up lift one of My pills.
Monday I told G.P I was feeling sick on the new dose so She changed it for another type.
So I hope I'm dancing after tomorrows injection because We are going away for the weekend.

bednobs I thought all G.P's knew how to give injections I was stunned when she said she did'nt.

arwyn.....bednobs does have a point..........it does depend upon where the injection is to be put....if around the joint or inside the joint capsule itself.

Around the joint should be in the encompass of all GP's, but an injection into the joint cavity needs special skills which a GP might not have.

Ah thank you sqad I thought an injection was an injection, that explains it all as I thought that as Nurses have gave them to Me before what was Her problem.....Now I know thank you every one. x

my step dad needed an injection in his archilles tendon and was told to collect the stuff from chemist and take to his GP. There are seven drs at the practice (practise!?) but none of them would do it.
i think there was just too much that could go wrong, directly into a joint like that.

crisgal....I am surprised at that.......the Achilles tendon injection does not involve injecting into a joint.

Thank you cris, She said they had 2 Doctors who would do it and they were'nt in.

We have to make an appointment with our doctor to get an appointment with our nurse. Can you believe it - and that could take 2 weeks to get the nurse. NHS to the dogs

well, as you know i'm no doc meself! It was 'around' the tendon, in the ankle joint somewhere. It was to treat the archilles somehow.

connem the one good thing about our's is I ring up at 8.30am and I see a Doctor that morning.which is brill.
