Is anyone doing this? Just starting and wondered what your experiences are .... I think my biggest challenge will be not cooking, as I love to cook ..... has anyone got any tips for how to add fruit, veg and about 250 calories of extras per day in a creative way?
My meals pack equals 1200 calories per day and I can add 2 pirces of fruit (ie one smal apple and a plum) and one veg potion (ie a large plain salad, or steam veg to the tune of a third of a dinner plate) each day. First day tomorrow - final meal to night, but the food looks fab!
also be wary of other carb heavy vegetables; potatoes of course, but other root veg too; carrots, swedes etc and beans/legumes and also tomatoes can have a lot of sugar in them.
As you like cooking you would be better off finding a book on low GI recipes and cooking for yourself. That way you can have the meals you like and learn the right foods so that when you have reached your target weight you do not pile all the pounds back on. Remember you are training yourself in a healthier lifestyle and unless you are wealthy you will not be able to continue having meals prepared for you.
I looked at their website a while back...and the meals looked all of the same...with just soup for lunch every day. That would drive me mad...I'd be hungry all the time...and bored.
As for fruit-your best bet is berries-particularly blueberries and raspberries....they are the lowest of all fruit in carbs and sugars.
i make lovely caesar salad with the usual lettuce, parmasan, cherry tomatoes, crutons etc, though to spice it up i add lots of pinapple chunks too. ;-)
