Scarring under the skin

I did my own dressings for my leg on the weekend and whilse I was drying the skin around the hole, I noticed that on one side of it the tissue under the skin was pretty solid and almost numb. This was untouched skin around the wound, not the wound itself. I asked the nurse this morning and she said it's probably just scarring. Does that sound right? And if so, will it soften up or is it like that permanently?

Yepp, I agree with the nurse....probably fibrous tissue........the scarring due to the final end of the infection.

Thakns Sqad. It feels really odd. Does it break up over time and return to normal or will it stay like this now? I'm already worried about the visible scar I'm going to have.
milly .......it depends.....it could break down and disappear.......it could just as well remain the same............very. very rarely it may ossify (become bony hard), only time will tell.
Is it cartoid scaring? (possibly spelt with a K .. not sure lol)

My son has a lump on his chest where he had his heart surgery and it will always be there.
