Tick on dog's eyelid?
Noticed just before our walk that there is a raised red lump on my dog's eyelid. I have looked as closely as I can and although I can see a dark mark, I am not sure if it is a tick or not. I have got a tick remover tool, which thankfully I have not had to use yet. A relative's dog recently had a tick on her eyelid and she took her to the vet where they put Vaseline on it and then pulled it off. I have had a quick look and the Lyme Disease site says not to use petroleum jelly, would I be able to use the tick remover in such an awkward sensitive place, if so, as I am not 100% that it is a tick, what will happen if I try to use the tick remover and it turns out to be a stye or ingrowing hair follicle or something. Any help or advice please, otherwise I feel a trip to the vet coming on.

This dark mark is very close to the bottom of his eyelid, so could maybe be something to do with a hair follicle which is why I am unsure whether to use the tick remover tool or not. I suppose basically I am asking can I do any damage by using a tick remover if it isn't a tick?
