Sinus pain in upper teeth?
13 Answers
My Sister has had ongoing toothache (over the course of a year really). She is in her early 30's. She is going to a private dentist who has extracted 2 back teeth due to constant pain. She has had an infection in these teeth and up in the jaw, which he removed. She was given different types of antibiotics to clear it up. Since having the teeth removed, she still has a constant dull ache in her top back teeth area (even though 2 teeth on one side were removed). The dentist today said there is nothing showing on an x-ray to denote tooth infection, and is totally clueless as to what could be causing constant dull pain, but has advised her to have an MRI scan on her medical insurance as he thinks it could be sinus-related, as the x-ray showed that her sinus cavities were "long?".. She has no headache with it though, just constant dull toothache in upper teeth. She has suffered with blocked stuffy nose and hayfever since childhood. Has anybody else had constant tooth pain without headaches cause by sinuses?

An MRI scan of the sinuses would not appear appropriate in my opinion but I fear that the next step would be to see a Facio-Maxillary Surgeon.
It is unlikely that the nasal problem is anything to do with her pain.
Is she taking analgesics and if so which one and is it working?
