I am 9 weeks and woke up in the early hours throwing up and feeling lousy, six hours later I can't keep liquids down for 10 seconds! My first pregnancy was fine, not a moments nausea. Can morning sickness be this bad?

yes it can. Look up hyperemesis gravida
is it just today? could it be something else rather than morning sickness? keep the fluid levels up as much as you can, little sips of water.
Unfortunately yes. I had it with both my babies - all day every day, couldn't even keep water down. It lasted a few weeks - I hope yours won't be so bad.

Can I ask if you felt ill with it too? (seems rather obvious) but I feel rather like I have the hangover from hell! Achey limbs etc, can't find any reference to this when looking up morning sickness online.
I agree with red, it could be a bug, there's a lot of it about.
Hope it settles for you soon, I must have been lucky I never had sickness at all with my two, just a bit of nausea now and then.
Nausea and vomiting are unfortunately to be expected and some women experience it worse than other (the first 3/4 months of both my pregnancies were dreadful - sips of ginger ale or fizzy water helped, as did eating tiny amounts of dry crackers) BUT if you are feeling achey and having other symptoms, I would get your doctor/midwife to check you over, to be on the safe side.
Yes it can....providing that you have no abdominal pain or diarrhea, then one may assume that is from your pregnancy.
I had violent morning sickness with all 3 of my children :(
