I just noticed on Facebook a friend put the following and it seems odd to me.
"Opened a door on my big toe at work. Bled quite a bit and got dressing on it. Got to send clippings from it in 6-8 weeks to check for infection. If there is then got to take one tab of antibiotic once a day for 9-12 months"
Check for infection in 6-8 weeks and then 9-12 months of anti-biotics? Not that I'm calling her a liar but I've never heard of anything like that before.
She was moaning about something being wrong with her foot so her sister asked what happened and that was her response. She's always moaning about someting though.
I'm not sure if she is diabetic Lofty, although I doubt it as she does tend to share every aspect of her medicle life on there.
Odd to me too! I'd have thought, if there was any infection there, the antibiotics would be best administered straight away as ignored infection can do a lot of damage, especially somewhere small like a toe. Also, how would she know how long she would be kept on antibiotics! Strange indeed.
Not antibiotics though. Quite strong antifungal drugs. That would obviously why nail clippings have to be taken. Obviously Milly, your friend has a toenail which has a fungal infection - very common. She has knocked the nail and made it bleed and I would think whoever has dressed it has noticed the fungal infection.
Lofty...there is NOTHING in the original post to suggest that she has a fungal infection OR diabetes, except from the unlikely tales of nail clippings and 12 months treatment of antibiotics.
It is all supposition.
The only facts that we have is that she caught her foot and it bled.....all the rest is "made up"
OK you win! But clippings and a tablet once a day for a long period would indicate a fungal infection. That's all. And as Milly suggests the girl likes to moan and perhaps is just after attention.
