Over the past 6 months i have noticed my mum's behaviour becoming more and more erratic. Everything in the house has to be done a certain way e.g hanging towels up or deleting programes from the digibox straight away, rugs have to be a certain way, washing only done on certain days etc. This made me think that maybe she is suffering from OCD but i have also noticed her drinking has increased - 5/6 nights a wk she is drinking but even pouring a glass of wine, it has to be exact with the next persons - no one can have more or less. I have asked her why she is drinking so much and why she seems so unhappy with her life and she wouldn't open up to me. I have googled OCD and Depressive disorder and wondered if there was a similarity and maybe if she is depressed, the OCD is a way of controlling parts of her life. I'm extremely worried as her behaviour is getting worse but she is reluctant to open up as to what has caused all this. Has anyone heard or know anyone that has this?

don't worry to much it's just the same with me,I have been retired for some time and I have to have things just right, even down to having the toilet roll round so it comes over the top and I was watching Cliff Richard some time ago and he said if it is not the right way he has to turn it around even if he is not in his own house and as for having a drink I have a couple of tinnies most nights, try not to worry we do funny things as we get older
How old is your mother? A sudden personality change is worth getting checked out with the doctor especially if it may be drink related or in an older parent
