On the leaflet in the box, it says not to drink grapefruit juice.

I welcome any new evidence-based interventions (even more so when it's personal!) but I was interested to see on that link that "they" have abandoned the Framlingham scoring for certain patients. I can but wait and see - this new doc at least seems to be getting things moving for me at last, it's taken months before anyone would actually do anything. Doc said that family history is taken into account in the risk scoring... again, I guess that it won't be case of "one size fits all", if individual clinicians use their nous in applying this new guidance to individual patients.
I have just got my repeat prescription of Pravastatin and have perused the leaflet with a fine-tooth comb. Nowhere does it mention the word grapefruit, so perhaps a change of statin might be the answer for grapefruit lovers. The only restriction as to when the tablets should be taken is one hour before or four hours after any bile acid sequestrant you may be taking (whatever that is).
He's gorgeous!! Just seeing him makes me feel better.
Seriously though. My cholesterol was once at 7.00 and he said he wasn't in the least concerned. Hubby was on Simvastatin (heart attack) even though he had naturally low cholesterol. Simvastin gave him dreadful muscle pains. New statin has been no problem. I presume because of heart attack he will be on statins for ever even though his cholesterol is around 3.00

I think that the only reason I am on them is because I am a Type 2 diabetic (allegedly!) and they like the cholestorol to be around the 4 mark. I get a slight muscular pain in my upper right arm, but it is mild and occurs only when I am lying on it in bed. I put that down to advancing years rather than statins.
