Malaria runs in cycles so it's possible that I was sweating without a high temp. Common sense however, says the reason you sweat is to cool down so I would think it's unlikely but can't say for certainty.
Thanks for your replies. I thought it might be a possibility after the initial infection. I had a period of a few weeks in the summer where I was sweating profusely (although I wasn`t flushed). I had an awful night last night, tossing and turning, freezing cold and achey. I`m sweating again now. It`s always worth bearing malaria in mind. Think I might go and make some enquiries.
Reading your post with interest 237 - first thing that occurred to me was why you would suspect Malaria at all -Do you have a particular reason to suspect malaria - ie do you live in or have you recently visited an area with a high prevalence of malaria?
Secondly, I would be very surprised if, were it actually malaria, you had bouts of severe sweating without a high temperature - I would think that combination would be extremely rare. Like sqad, I can vaguely remember the malaria staging - cold stage, hot stage and wet stage, but the wet stage was attributable to the fever induced by the malarial attack.

Lazygun...good points that you have raised.....237SJ has a job where she "jets" around the world often to where malaria is prevalent, added to that she is very well informed on medical matters and that it why, I presumed she was worried about the parasite.
The other condition that rarely comes to mind now is PTB or thyrotoxicosis, but she has had blood tests in the past suggeting that she is hypothyroid.
I hope that you don't mind me answering for her, but i know her past history.

Hello again,
Thanks for your interesting remarks. I`ve looked back through this year`s diary and I`ve only been in West Africa once this year so I can`t think of anywhere else that would be a likely culprit (I`ve been in Delhi but I`m not bothered about that). If it is something suspect, I`ve had it for quite a while. I could`ve passed off any original infection as a bug. I might be overreacting but it`s always wise to check it out. We lost someone at work to malaria a couple of years ago. There`s also a rumour going around work about Legionnaires from Bangkok but I haven`t heard anymore. You can`t be too careful.
